Thanks David - you guys were super!!  I hope you don't stop either.  What a treat for us all.  I think your wife has officially earned a place.  I hope we will see more of you both around here.

Hello all, didn't we have an absolutely wonderful time!! Peggy and Leonette are already concoxing up things to do for our 45th Reunion. Never a dull moment around them. At least the dragons are glittered!!
I am thinking about getting ten ladies to learn how to clog in order for us to perform for the next reunion and it may take that long to choreograph and teach the songs you pick out to do routines to. I promise I will start slow....very slow!!! It would be so much fun to be able to do that. Just sign up on the blog if you are daring....rita

Peggy, now I remember why you were against the glitter.  It seems we talked about using glitter when we first looked at those dragons.  Do you really think there was that much glitter to clean up or was it just the hotel?  They should have discounted the price of clean up because they were so slow in getting food out for those who were near the end of the line. Even with the few problems I still think the reunion was a success -- it was good to see everyone and I look forward to the 45th.  Oh! that sounds OLD!  Thanks again for all you and Leonette did to make it successful.  I want one of the directories.

I am way up in North Carolina--but I just wanted to say that I am still in such a good mood.  Our reunion was so successful.  Thank you to every one who did so much to help it all come together.  I do hope we stay in contact.  Thanks especially to Leonette and Pege.  Love, Marsha

I can still 'party', but it seems to take me about a week to recover. I am also still enjoying the fun from the weekend. I have watched some of the You-tube videos. Thanks to all those who posted the videos and took pictures.  My fellow teachers were all anxious to hear about the reunion when I got back to school on Monday. Some of them are so young that I don't think they can imagine being out of high school for 40 years, much less living to celebrate it.

I felt like I was 16 again.  I am so glad someone came up with the idea for the Guv'nors to perform.  reunkiting us means much more than anyone can imagine.  Sheryl had so much fun.  Made some new friends and got to play with the band.  She had said before we came that when we were in school at SFA she would go to the places that I played and sit on the side and wait for a break so we could talk.  She thought it would be the same at the reunion,...NOT.   All the great people she met and hose tambourines fixed that -- the Guv'vettes were formed at our last practice and she had a blast...along with Judy and Rhonda and Susan.  The whole weekend was the best.

We appreciated Sheryl helping us hang up the t-shirts above the auction table!  She was very kind to assist us when we were decorating.  Thanks Sheryl!  I am having fun with our three GRAND-kiddos up here in North Carolina.  The trees are starting to change and it is one of the most beautiful places on this earth--up here in the mountains.
We enjoyed the band.  You all were terrrific!  :)

It was hard to come back to work and my everyday world here because my heart and my head are still somewhere back in the 60's.  That was one fine party (well, 2 fine parties), and it seemed to just keep on every time we ran into anyone again.  Why didn't I realize how neat everyone was back then?  I'm sorry I didn't get to talk to everyone there, though.
Another big round of applause for the reunion committee and all the hard work they did, and for the Guv'nors who came out of retirement just for us and did it so beautifully!

Yes, Cassie it was great and like you I, too, have been back in the '60s this week. The committee had such fun planning the reunion and reminiscing about our high school days.  I just wish all our classmates could have been there to share this special time with us. The Guv'nors playing just added to the nostalgia -- the kids today have no idea what they are missing.  We are a diverse group as Wendy said, but the diversity just added to the reunion.  It is too bad we didn't realize just how special everyone was back then.  Keep in touch with us, and if you are ever in Nac let us know and we'll do lunch or a coffee break.  Thanks for helping with the decorating.

I would like to dance with most anyone, well, maybe not...  My husband broke his ankle several years ago, and that put an end to our dancing. We used to really enjoy it. I did have one dance at the reunion, with Sandra Drewery. I didn't mind dancing with a 'girl', and I don't think anyone even noticed. If you are reading this Sandra, thanks for asking.  I was a little winded afterward. Pam,Patsy and I discussed the fact that we might need portable oxygen tanks in five years. Maybe we could look into the price, and have those instead of helium for balloons???

Hey you all--let's not get so busy that we stop writing on our very own Blog!!!!!  Someone has made it possible to keep our Class Reunion Site for the next five years--right Peg or Leonette??????  I look forward to getting on the site and seeing who has made a recent comment.  Our lives should not be so hectic or boring that we can't still make a comment every now and then or has everyone already stopped checking our '67 Blog????????  Is anyone out there???  :)  I for one am so grateful for the opportunity I have had to get reconnected with my friends from school and the opportunity to get to know some of my classmates that I did not actually know that well back in high school.  I was pretty shy and most boys did not talk to me unless they wanted to copy my homework.  :(  Kinda sad--but I have changed over the years and I feel more confident in myself.  I am grateful for those of you who have been a part of my life.  So let's keep this blog going!!!!  What do you say?  Sincerely, Marsha Ault

The cds are being redone, so don't give away the second one you received, Judy.  They were not nearly what we expected.  Once we have them completed we will post an announcement so that those who purchased the original can get (at no cost) the replacement.  It should include lots more pictures.  We are trying to compile a list of videos purchased so if you bought one let either Peggy or me know ASAP.

I would like a video and a cd. Somehow I missed out on ordering them. Is it too late to order, or can you still get one of each?
Our son, Curtis, got his vicarage assignment last Friday. He will be going to Howard's Grove, Wisconsin for a year beginning on November 15. I guess I'll have to buy some warm clothes, maybe this is the excuse I need to buy a fur??? Probably not. I don't know when I would wear it in Texas.
Marsha, read a novel for me. I don't seem to have the time to read as much as I would like to. Maybe some day.
Everyone take care.

Carolyn, when you do have time to read you need to read Nicholas Sparks' new book, The Choice.  It is good. As far as warm clothing goes I wouldn't spend the money on a fur unless you plan to move up to Wisconsin because it will stay in storage all year in Texas.  Of course, you could take it out and wear it to the next reunion. Just a few more days and you will have a few days off................Judy

Judy--do you have a copy of  Spark's new novel??   I have a book club which meets at my house once a month and we take turns presenting a book for the month for everyone to read.   The book for this month is: A Room with a View by E. M. Forster.  The last two months I had not read our chosen book--so yesterday I was determined to finish this month's book early.  This book was hard for me to get into--but I finished it.  :)

Pray for me tomorrow. It is Halloween. I don't know how Halloween is everywhere else, but here the kids are 'nuts'. I will be so glad when Thursday rolls around and it is no longer October. I did have something great this October - the reunion, so maybe it was a good month after all.
I will be looking forward to those days off at Thanksgiving, but they will go by so quickly.

Jimmy & David, I'll check on the Biltmore the end of the month.  I love that place and plan on going again when I'm there after Thanksgiving.  I'm pretty sure we can't get the main house, but maybe the wine tasting rooms!  Now there's an idea.  I'll bet you guys would really shine there.  I'll try to remember to ask about the glitter, Janice.  We wouldn't want to offend.
What's the name of that really big inn on top of the hill just outside town, Marsha?  The one with the two fireplaces that you could fit a small home in.  They always have live music and the view is wonderful.  I'll check there too.  We'll take the band on the road, and they'll need groupies!

Yesterday at Church we were told that in a LDS Church up in Maryland a strange man walked in and molested three little girls and kidnapped a four year old.  What a world we live in in this day and time!  Children cannot feel safe even in their church building.  We all need to be alert to strangers lurking around our neighborhoods and even our churhes.  I have 12 grandchildren and I am going to email my daughters and caution them to talk to their children and always know where there kiddos are and who they are with.
I miss all of our get togethers before our reunion took place.  I hope you all don't forget about our lunches.  I volunteered for Janurary.  Who volunteered for December??????????????  :)  Hope you all have a special Thanksgiving Holiday.  We all have alot to be grateful for.

We have a great class. My thanks and appreciation goes to Peggy, Leonette, and  all  the Reunion Committee for doing such a great job.  We really enjoyed hearing the Governors and they have not missed a beat since High School day. Pam and I really enjoyed Rita and her dancers.  Again, the reunion was the best

Well, hello to all!! I have not been around lately because I went to Nashville, Tenneesee for the National Clogging Convention at the Opryland Hotel and Resort. It was a great way to spend Thanksgiving!! The Rocketts were there from Radio City Music Hall and they gave an awesome Christmas Show. I tested out on Tuesday and Wednesday for my clogging license and and am very proud to say I passed. It has taken me five years to accomplish this but now it is done. I am now a Certified Clogging Instructor (CCI). We also had the clogging workshop on Thursday thru Saturday where you clog all day on all days and by the time it was time to come home, my foot would hardly hold the excelerator down....could not use cruise because it rained on me all the way home. And I could hardly get out to put gas in my car....I heard on the radio that there were 33 million people on the road Sunday and yep, I was one of them. But, it was worth it. I will have to show you some of the videos. Please come to the Rec Center and dance with us. We will have a float in the parade on Saturday....be sure to yell at us. Hope we can get together soon....

I've been out of town visiting my daughter in Kingsport, TN.  I think we have decided to have December's lunch at Carol's studio on Bremond December 19 at 11:30.  All classmates are invited!  We will celebrate birthdays too.  Mine was Dec 1 and Jimmy's is today.  Homer's was just the other day too.  We all had a good time on Peggy's birthday at Shelly's Bakery downtown.  Jimmy is always so entertaining and I'll swear that he has the memory of an elephant.
Guess I'll have to pick a different month to do lunch at my home.  Who has the schedule?  I think I have almost finished with Christmas decorations.  Now I'm just hoping that someone comes to visit and enjoy them.  I do love Christmas and all its decorations.  Last year I gave away  half of my decorations, and this year I realized why.  It was just an excuse to buy more!

I can't wait to see Carol's house.  She had gone all out on decorating for Halloween so I can't wait to see her Christmas decorations.  As for the lunch schedule, I don't remember it but Marsha may.  She, like Jimmy, has a better memory.  The rest of you may celebrate more birthdays, but after June, I will be in a holding pattern and refuse to do the BIG 60.  At 40 I got bifocals, at 50 I had my first hip replacement so I definitely don't want to even think about 60.

I have my tree to decorate, but other than that I'm finished with shopping and decorating.  I have held off on the tree because of Luke, but tomorrow night it goes up. I usually have it up no later than the first weekend in December and usually Thanksgiving weekend.  The decorations may all be at the top of the tree this year  in order to keep little hands from being tempted.

Greg called today and said they are having sleet mixed with snow.  Quite a change from our 80 degree weather and a really big change from Hawaii.  He said he should know sometime in February where he will be stationed for the next four years. Say a prayer he will not be in Iraq for 15 months -- don't think I'm ready for that again.  See you on the 19th at Carol's.

The American Veterans Traveling Tribute Vietnam War Memorial Wall is on the Giddings High School football today through the weekend. Even though it is not the size of the wall in Washington DC. The walls are still filled with to many names of our generation that lost their live in Vietnam. I found William's name and Sammy's name, and left a small flag for each. I didn't know William, but Sammy and I had been friends since second grade. I shared this with some of my former students who are now third graders. They were telling me that they were going to the opening ceremonies and stay to view the wall. I asked them to find Sammiy's name, and gave them a couple of pictures of him, and some information about him and his death. About 2:30 one of my former students, Danny Triana, came in my room and presented me with a rubbing of Sammy's name. He was very respectful and told me he loved me and hoped that I would like to have the rubbing. I was very touched by his compassion and sensitivity.Later in the afternoon I went to visit the memorial by myself. It was a very moving experience. Like I said I have never visited the real one, so I have no comparison. It is very sobering to see all those names and realize that some were teenagers, most were in their early twenties, but they all died that we could have the freedom we have today.

Are you going to have the lunch bunch get-togethers during the summer?  I get out of school June 5th and would love to see you all again.  Plus I'm dying to have a Butcher Boys hamburger.  You folks that still live in Nacogdoches cannot imagine the deprivation those of us who live elsewhere suffer.

Yes, Janice, we are going to meet in June and the rest of the summer months. We'll be sure and let you know when.  If anyone else wants to join us, we would love it so just let us know.
We met at Peggy's home yesterday for some of Tony's delicious quiche.  Peggy's a lucky girl.
Check out the Current Classmates photo album for some pictures of yesterday.

Leonette--you gave me credit for Sherril's flip flops under our lunch bunch photos from Peggy's!!!!!  I think Sherril's flip flops would have won if we were having a most creative contest!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  :)  We sure hope to have a lot more of you all coming this summer to our "LUNCH BUNCH" activities.  We have so much fun.  I think it is sobbering to us to realize that this is our last year in our 50's.  I am so grateful to be reconnected with you all.  Guys--please don't let our activities scare you away--I am sure the monthly host can think up some manly activity if we know you are planning to join us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Nacogdoches High School Class of 1968 will be holding our 40th Reunion on Saturday, October 4, 2008, at 6:00-12:00am at the Piney Woods Country Club.  We would like to extend an invitation to the Class of 1967 to join us.  We are giving our class members exclusivity until August 1.  At that time we will start accepting registrations from both the Class of 67 and the Class of 69.  You can go to our website, www.nhs1968.com, and receive more information.  The cost is $35 per person before September 20 and $40 per person afterwards.  The Guv'nors will be playing and we hope to have a reunion that rivals the great reunion that you guys had last October.  Again, go to our website for more info, or contact me at tglenncooper@aol.com.

I like the new look!  Thanks, Peggy and Leonette,   You girls have done such a great job with this website.

When I saw the new look I thought of Greg.  He got the family moved to Eagle River, Alaska which is about 10 minutes from Anchorage.  His description of the place sounds beautiful -- bears, moose in his backyard, eagles, a mountain overlook from his living room, and at the edge of his backyard -- the Eagle River.  I can't wait to visit Heather this next year -- who knows I may even "Summer" there.  On July 6, he reported to Fort Riley Kansas.  During the next two months he will be training as part of 7-10 member team who will work with the Iraqi Police.  The tenative deployment date to Iraq is September 5.  If all goes as planned we will be going to see him in August,  and then again in September when he deploys.  As I have said before this isn't my choice as a career, but from the time he was a little boy he has always wanted to be in the military or a policeman and now he is both.  I am just looking forward to September 2009 when he comes home, and pray they will bring the troops home before then.

Again, thanks for the new look.  When is the next Lunch Bunch gathering.

Judy
