OK, I know I'm extremely late thanking everyone in charge with the reunion.   It was great!!  Loved hearing the Guv'nors.   My only regret was that I did not get around to see and talk to all there.   I'm so glad our class was so social and fun in '67 and that nothing has changed over the years - we all still like to have a good time!  Thanks again to the committee - you spoiled us!!!

I truly can not remember when I have had a more memorable time. This was just GREAT!! Thanks to everyone who helped planned this. I know how much work it is and my hat is off to each of them. What a great trip down memory lane. It brought back so many memories including my 16th birthday, when my parents hired the Guv'nors to play. I think it was their first and maybe last paid gig! And if my memory serves me correctly- they made a whopping $25.00 each for the whole night. What fun it was to renew so many old friendships. I will be looking forward to the next one. Thanks again for letting me be a part of it!

I loved the reunion, and Gene was really impressed with the Guv'nors and Mark Garrison's harmonica playing, not to mention all the great people he met. Peggy and Leonette, y'all did a fantastic job, and Homer, you "outdid" yourself. I think I have post reunion withdrawal syndrome, and that the three of you probably have post reunion exhaustion syndrome. So thank you again for the wonderful time Saturday, and for the wonderful lead-up to it all the months before with the website. I think you could probably have second careers as event planners.

There are not enough words to describe how much I enjoyed seeing the Guv'nors perform. It was the first time that I had ever seen them, that's what happens when you leave NHS before your senior year. I was really impressed with all of you, and Mark Garrison was really great. You all have so much tallent (even you Homer) I enjoyed so much seeing everyone that I hadn't seen in 40 years. We all will expect to see the performance in 2012. Best of luck to everyone, may God be with each and everyone.

Jeopardy question - In the whole world, who is the best audiance for a 60's band? Answer: The NHS Class of 67! Thanks to all of you for, as the kids say, "showing us the love," not just on Saturday night, but for the whole weekend. To paraphrase the legendary East Texas guitar virtuoso, Jimmy Daniels, it was a "clustermonkey of biblical proportions!" For us, to be able to perform for y'all, and to party with y'all, is a thrill that money can't buy!

I have enjoyed looking at this fantastic web site all summer! I wanted you all to know that my mom, Jaye Jean Colwell Stewart, always said that the class of 1967 was one of her very favorite classes when she was teaching English and French at NHS. She passed away last October, but she would have loved looking at the web site and reading about what happened to all of you! Thanks for including her pictures in the Teacher section.

That's a real bummer about "Miss McDougal." I remember sitting in her class stressing big time while I waited for my turn to go front and center and give my speech. Somehow I made it thru the first year without having a heart attack, but then signed up for the second year and did it again. Even tho I haven't seen her since high school, I still found myself thinking of her quite often. The reason for that is because these days I often give talks to Church groups, and I honestly believe that learning to overcome my fear of public speaking in her class still benefits me today. She was definitely an influential teacher.

Hello everyone, Wow, what a trip down memory lane. It's actually so wonderful, I'm sitting here crying. If you remember I did not graduate with you guys, because I lacked two credits English and Civics. But I did graduate in 1968. All of you are the ones I have the most fond memories of. I also have two of the annuals that have been requested which I'll gladly donate. I live in Katy presently. I went to vocational nursing school right after high school and was in nursing for about ten years then due to problems with drug addiction I stopped nursing. I have worked for the past twenty eight years in management of the Sterile Processing Department of hospitals in Dallas and here in Houston. I am now retired. I live with my life partner David Reed. I have two wonderful children and David has four. Between the both of us we have eight grandchildren. In my spare time I love to cook, garden and do crafts. I have enjoyed so much reading the bio of each and looking at the pictures. I'm very sorry I will not be able to attend the reunion but my thoughts and prayers will be with each of you and those who travel.

I just returned from the funeral of Pam Lovell's dad. And was so surprised to see girls I went to school with - Patsy Hayden, Rosemary Sactleben, Judy Long, Helen Clifton, Leonette Scarbrough. They informed me of the reunion and I was so glad to hear about it. I didn't graduate from Nacogdoches but went to to school there thru 9th grade and remember many, many of you. I graduated from Douglass High School in 1967 but have always lived and worked in the Nacogdoches. I do plan and am excited about attending the reunion. See you then!!!

I am from the NHS Class of 74 and I loved looking at your pix. I live in Tyler and have since graduating from SFA in 1978, but I still love Nacogdoches and those old pix were awesome. My grandfather, Mr Molandes, drove a school bus and I used to ride with you guys sometimes back then. Funny, someone mentioned the annual color and I remember y'all getting on the bus looking at it. I went to Memorial Baptist with Leonette and I also went to Nettie Marshall. Loved the pix from the Spring Festival. I had the same pose in a picture when I was a Duchess walking up the aisle as the announcer said "Hail, Hail, Duchess Jan of the House of Dobbs." My brother Gary, Class of 70, was the King when he was in 6th grade. I had to miss that year with the mumps! Remember when kids still had the mumps??? Thanks for the memories. I take pictures now for the Tyler Paper website and I hope to get to feature your reunion. I'll be in Nac that weekend for Homecoming anyway.

We have mailed invitations to all of our classmates and have begun getting in replies. My first reservation with a check came from Bill Bailey, who said, "Sounds like a blast, we will be there." But sadly, I received a note from Raymond Ward's wife who said that Raymond had died on March 6, 2005. I also talked with Nancy McCormick who married Michael Green's brother James. Nancy said that Michael had passed away on January 23, 2003. Michael and Raymond have been added to our "In Memory Of" page.

I received this email and thought you might like to read it: Dear Peggy, We moved to Jacksonville in 1965, I believe, and moved back to Nacogdoches in midsummer of 67. Pete (William) enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1966. After basic training at Ft Polk, LA, he attended AIT (Advanced Infantry Training) and was immediately accepted into Airborne training at Ft Benning, GA. It was there after only 1.5 years in the Army, that he was promoted to Sergeant. During the Vietnam Conflict, many young men were being promoted fairly quickly, unfortunately, due to attrition. Pete was wounded and received his Purple Heart approximately 3 months after arriving in Vietnam and after a short recuperation period in Japan, he returned to Vietnam and was killed in action a few months later. I reviewed your "gone but not forgotten" area on the NHS and was sorry to see that so many of the young men that I had played sports with were gone. I guess my time in the military took me away from Nacogdoches far too long. If there is anything else I can help you with or provide to you, please do not hesitate to ask. Jerry W. Armstrong, MSgt, USAF (Retired) / NHS Class of '70

Funeral service for Elizabeth Tucker "Betsi" Chandler, 53, of Nacogdoches, will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 28, 2007, at Grace Bible Church in Nacogdoches with Dr. Gordon E. Johnson and the Rev. Justin Beadles officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. On Thursday, June 14, 2007 the world lost a loving mother of three, wife, daughter, sister and friend with Betsi's untimely death in Longview, Texas. Born in Nacogdoches on September 4, 1953, she was the youngest daughter of Billy P. and Dottie Tucker of Nacogdoches. She graduated from Nacogdoches High School where she was co-editor of the yearbook, and received her degree from Stephen F. Austin State University. She and her beloved husband Michael were married on June 29, 1974 by Brother George Middlebrook. A member of Grace Bible Church, she was very involved with the AWANA Club for children and had many great experiences with "her kids", and they were blessed with her beautiful smile and loving spirit. Betsi was an astute businesswoman and for eighteen years was an administrative assistant for Heritage Land Bank of Nacogdoches. She loved her family of friends at Heritage and enjoyed going to work every day. She was an outgoing person whose vibrant spirit and sunny disposition will be missed by all who knew her. Betsi is survived and celebrated by her parents Billy P. and Dottie Tucker of Nacogdoches; husband Michael Ray Chandler of Nacogdoches; daughter and son-in-law, Abby and Chad Crossland of Longview; two sons, Jason Chandler of Nacogdoches and Andrew Chandler of Houston; sister and brother-in-law, Teddy and John Butts of Peekskill, N.Y. and brother Cameron Tucker of Atlanta, Ga. Active pall bearers will be John Schoenrock, Mike Harper, Ken Foster, Johnny Christian, Ralph Busby, Lee Danis, Dudley Davis and Jimmy Henderson. For those desiring, memorials may be made to the Rio Grande Bible Institute, 4300 S. Business Hwy 281, Edinberg, TX 78539-9699. Her family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 27, 2007 from 5 until 7 PM at Laird Funeral Home. Laird Funeral Home, Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
